Some Days the Bear Eats You Department: Borealis Expedition Adventure Resource Drowning, Not Waving

Borealis on the ropes

There was a great One-Show wining ad for a store going-out-of-business sale that read “Oh Sure, Now You’ll Shop Here.”

In an effort to try and avoid winning a similar One-Show Golden Pencil, Borealis Expedition Adventure Resource (BEAR) in Thousand Oaks, CA, just sent out a plea to its mailing list asking for corporate partners, good-hearted lawyers or just some damn customers, owing to a life-and-death struggle with their landlord. The latter sounds like code for “the rent is going up.”

BEAR is a great store, catering in Distinguished Outdoor Provisioning. Which means that you can’t afford anything they sell.

What I like about BEAR is that they sponsor local events such as a full-moon hike in the Santa Monica mountains and classes in trail running. It would be nifty if they could get a chance to continue developing their outdoor advocacy. (Hint fellas: a little Web 2.0 wouldn’t hurt any.)
