Speaking of Web 2.0

Somebody at Tread Lightly knows their event-triggered marketing. I just got a nice little email form letter from Tracey Hackworth thanking me for my participation as a Friend of Tread Lightly.

I’m guessing this is an automated response based on a trackback ping because of my post below? Dunno. Because I don’t think Tracey actually read my post griping about cheap Chinese crap offered as prizes. The Warner PullzAll looks kind of cool, if you had a big-assed power inverter under the hood of your Jeep, but the stuff from Coleman…the Coleman brand has pretty much devolved to being a distributor of execrable goods from the Orient.

Anyhow Tracey, if by some miracle you happen to read this, here are some things that could get me to sign up in a heartbeat:

  • Free (or reasonably discounted) Adventure Pass with sign up
  • Regular updates on local Restoration for Recreation events (similar to Geocaching’s LoBot mailings)
  • Local Meet-Ups, club-style access to other Tread Lightly members
  • If you must do prizes, by all means offer stuff from, like, Patagonia, or another equally Green outfit
  • You know, stuff like that

Tread Lightly is a bitchin’ concept and has potential to be a great brand. I’d like it better if the implementation was less like a government entity and more like a thrivin’ snarlin’ social enterprise.
